Jennifer Garner shares how she teaches her children values
After Jennifer Garner split from her ex-husband Ben Affleck, she is more focused on ensuring that her children learn good values and become upstanding people who help others.
She believes that teaching children values is done by leading by example. As the host of the Save the Children’s 4th Annual Illumination Gala, which promotes children’s rights, she spoke to the press and said that “I think teaching your kids anything is a lifelong job and certainly values are something. You can’t just say, ‘Here, have values!’ You have to show them that you have values,”
She went on to say that she believes that children tend to model their parents or guardians. This is one of her key parenting rules for her children Violet, 10, Seraphina, 7, and Samuel, 4. Garner knows that her children pay close attention to what she does.
However, Garner says that empathy is something that you cannot teach children and this is something she hopes her children will have. Although she knows that children can sometimes be selfish, they are always watching their parents see how they will react in similar circumstances.
The actress said that she tries her very best to be the best version of herself and hopefully, when she does something right, her kids will be watching and she hopes that they will try to do the same thing.
